The Fort Bend County Literary and Fine Arts Festival (Fort Bend Arts Festival) began 5 years ago and has grown into a much loved annual community event attended by over 2000 Katy area residents. The event was started as an outreach to support & celebrate the literary and artistic talents of children living in Fort Bend County Precinct 3.  Commissioner Andy Meyers noticed that while academic achievements and sports are widely celebrated in our area, students and teachers who participate in the literary & fine arts are often overlooked. Together with local partners, Fort Bend County Libraries & Fort Bend Charities, the Fort Bend Arts Festival was created as a way to support & partner with our Fort Bend County precinct 3 schools in Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Lamar Consolidated ISD.

The Fort Bend Arts Festival includes a Literary and Visual Arts competition for K-12 students in Fort Bend County Precinct 3 schools. Participating schools in Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD & Lamar Consolidated ISD submit student's artwork and essays into the juried show. Each entry is judged by a panel of former educators and professionals in the fields of Literary & Visual Arts. The panel of Judges assign Red & White Ribbons for all pieces submitted and select one "Best of Show" & three "Judges Choice" awards for K-2, 3-5, 6-8 Essay Categories, and K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 Visual Arts Categories. Winners are announced & awarded prizes during a special ceremony at the Fort Bend Arts Festival. The Award Ceremony also recognizes winners of the Storybook Character Parade, and includes a raffle drawing for participating teachers that's packed with prizes like iPad's, Apple Watches, $500 gift cards to Neiman Marcus Last Call, art supplies, amazon gift cards & more..

Student Artwork & Essays will be showcased at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library from April 21, 2018 - May 4, 2018.
